I'm sorry

so I disappeared....
honestly I went to Memphis, and my days were much more full than I expected. I had no time or desire to sit down and write. I'm sorry for making a false promise!
Are we still pals dear reader? I sure hope so.

I have decided not to do an all time favorite list. It felt oddly...personal...like very personal. Instead, I'm going to tell you some stuff, and throw in a few favorites as I go along.

Let's begin with this song:

It has had such a profound impact on me-I don't even know how to put into words how much I love it.  It has the prettiest, most melancholy melody that has seeped deep into my brain. I hum it when I'm not playing it, and I've played it about 200x since I first heard it randomly in my car. Nothing is better than music in my car, with summer air blowing around, late in the evening. nothing.

I've been having a bit of a tough time with this new number in my life-twenty four. I'm trying to calm down, but I feel older this year. I'm trying to see all the beauty in this number. I moved across the country alone, I'm acting, I'm meeting beautiful, kind people daily, and the scars I do have-I'm pretty proud of. Still....it's a weird number. I know most of my friends my age feel a little lost right now so let's call it normal, shall we?

I had such good days this past week-I looked through old photo albums with Pops and Molly and Mom. I danced with Jeffrey and Jessica. I spent the day at Gigi's house. I took hugs from my brother that he didn't want to give.  I slept late with the cats, and gave the dogs my food scraps. I read-currently on Gone Girl-almost to the end. I saw some movies. I took a long walk around the neighborhood, and ate birthday cake.

Now I'm back in this little ole town-happy to be here...

greetings from the home land

After spending today in the sky, I made it to Mississippi!
Let the birthday festivities begin

My favorite today is drinking tea with Mother dear after I landed. I have missed you like hell properly prepared, sweet iced tea.

My favorite band (other than the Beatles of course) is  Kings of Leon. This video is the best, and the song is fitting for today!

those summer nights

It's my birthday week y'all!

 I turn 24 on the 25th-can you believe it?! I can't.
Since this is a big week I will be posting a favorite or two every day! Friday will be a super special  edition "Friday Favorites" called...dun dun dun.... "Friday Favorites OF ALL TIME".
Turn down for what?

To begin this week of favorites- I present to you a fantastic summer video-a song that makes me feel joyful-sung by someone beautiful the ONE...the ONLY...YONCE! Who I totally love like XO.

This album was released shortly before I made the big move-
I remember, I made a trip with Mother dear to apartment hunt in the city, and we had to take two flights. You should know, I get scared on airplanes... I watched this video about 50x on a very turbulent flight, and it is the only thing that distracted me!

Also loving that New York is like the smallest town ever. Don't believe me?
I bumped into a girl I used to work with in Memphis this afternoon, and neither knew the other was living here! How does that happen? HOW? I don't know, but it did.

Onward to birthday week!

cheers to Monday pals

friday favorites

Hey it's actually Friday! I'm looking forward to playing in the burg this weekend before my trip home! It's been a pretty lame, rainy week on my end-BUT-I did manage to find a few favorites....

UMMM Jenny Lewis has a new album for the first time in six years and I can't wait y'all

she put out a pretty amazing video with famous faces already...can we talk about that suit

next up
I made this alfredo-sauce -yummy and easy. They always have great ideas over here!

Lena Dunham Book Tour

is making a Brooklyn stop! she is also doing a Union Square signing ! and all the girls shout with joy

"Suzie's carversation" is too funny

I wasn't able to go to Beyonce's show this week (SAD DOESN'T COVER IT)...I did know quite a few people who did and the reviews were amazing. The reviews are a favorite:

"I have decided she is everything I want to be"
"She said forgiveness is the key to love"
"her dancing"
"they are SO crazy in love, drunk in love, madly in love, SO in love."
"and then I was cheering for her baby!"
"her body was amazing, she's the prettiest person I've ever seen."

Clean Sheets and Old movies are a favorite this week and... well every week.

I watched Elizabethtown for the first time in ages- that script can not be beat!
I love: "I'm impossible to forget, but I'm hard to remember" and "I just want fries and cheese and a coca cola"and "it's not often I invite good looking men into my bedroom"

I then saw Breakfast at Tiffany's for the one millionth time and it never gets old-only gets better. That movie is everything...everything.

I must mention again "Looking for Alaska" by John Green!
I really loved it, and it is one of the only books I've read that portrays the south accurately.

cheers to Friday

Happy Weekending xo

a little happy

I saw this years ago, and I still feel it is perfection. It is the sweetest movie I've ever seen-set to one of my favorite songs-good clothes-perfect day-old plantation-yeah it's just simply the best.

words on a wednesday

I finished "Looking for Alaska" late last night, and I highly recommend you read it!
so many beautiful words-

these were my favorite: "But the not-knowing would not keep me from caring, and I would always love Alaska Young, my crooked neighbor, with all my crooked heart."

as I type this the sky outside my window is hot pink

now two of the greatest photo bombs ever :

stupid bloody Tuesday!

It is a Tuesday in the most of Tuesday of ways.  I’m off work on this rainy day, and the big plan is to watch Parent Trap with Bartholomew! I can go to the grocery store and run errands tomorrow right?

“after all tomorrow is another day” is sort of my mantra in life. And by sort of I mean IT IS.

Oh that Ms. Scarlet! My friend Sloan and I have a real thing for Gone with the Wind. Have you watched it lately? You really should. I love how long it is. It pretty much takes an entire day to watch if you’re doing it right. I love how you can read her entire mood based on an eyebrow twitch-in my opinion she is like the greatest actress ever ever ever you guys.  And beautiful! The MOST beautiful.  I love Tara. I could go on forever-just watch it. laugh and cry and feel like it’s just not fair.

What else what else

I travel to Mississippi in one week!

I can’t wait to see everyone and drive my car! I miss my car every single day-people said it would pass…it hasn’t. I miss it. I miss listening to my music and driving down church road (basically a road surrounded by open fields) especially! Also on days I have to go the pharmacy! Things like that should be quick-not a train and 8 blocks of walking!  I miss flipping down the mirror and fixing my lipstick in the morning. I miss being able to determine how fast I got to work, and sitting by myself on the way to work.

I should not complain because I basically live in the greatest city in America.

Also, I can read quietly in the morning on the train-you can’t read and drive. DUH.  Just to further exhaust this transportation conversation-seriously considering a bike. Everyone here rides a bike-I’m getting more and more sucked in to the idea. We shall see…..

Friday Favorites

It's that time again! Congratulations! You finished the week-
here are my favorites in review:

I got my hair cut at little axe and could not love it more! feeling so much lighter for summer

also my manicure this week is bright yellow and called "I can't cope-acabana" TOO PUNNY

I am loving this cute line of tote bags. did I mention they are under $16?!

ok...not at a low price point but worth a splurge the new Kate Spade collection

I am a die hard Kate Spade fan-really their store is my happy place. Just ask anyone who knows me

new and old stuff to hear

I was lucky enough to see Rachel Sermanni play a few years ago-she was delightful both on stage and in person. This is my favorite thing she sings (although I want you back is also amazing). The first time I heard it I was missing someone, and to this day it is the only song that seems to capture that melancholy feeling. so so so beautiful

I recently discovered Mo Kenney, and I'm already a fan!
can't get this one out of my head-humming it all day long

I watched "I wanna marry Harry" this week. HYSTERICAL
now going through old Kardashian episodes (never said this blog was deep)

My new velvet dirtbike tee inspired by brother dear!!!!!! shout outs to Cole and his fish
I love how all these ridiculous elements somehow work together

I'm loving the acting class I'm taking! feeling more creatively satisfied/challenged this week, than I have in like three years-amazing

ANDDDD MY MOST FAVORITE EVER-you're welcome. go ahead and find yourself looking at this for hours

Around Here

Around here....
I am trying to catch up on some new albums out right now-listening to Lana Del Rey and Lykke Li consistently like all the moody girls should.
I'm so in love with this song.
especially the words "yeah my boyfriend's pretty cool, but he's not as cool as me."
does it get any better than that statement? NO, it doesn't. really. great sentence-
think about it.

by the way...hope you had a wonderful 4th!
I went to a sweet little BBQ in Brooklyn with good people, and then watched the fireworks over the East River. I couldn't have hoped for a better first holiday in my new city.
It was though, I must say... oddly.. COLD. The fourth of July-yes Independence Day-was windy and cold! So much so that people were wrapped in quilts as the fireworks exploded overhead. It was strange.
We played a few great games of water balloon toss, but as the sun started to set it got incredibly competitive! No one wanted to get wet, because sitting in a damp t-shirt in the wind was miserable! It should have been a welcome relief from the heat, but no luck there.
STILL it was a great night-did I mention we ended with sparklers?

Here's a couple snaps  -

"may the bridges I burn light the way"

cheers to sweet Sundays and feeling full of gratitude!! I am simply bubbling over July!
It's strange to be half way through 2014..how did this happen? I thought on the train home today about how big this year has been for me.
(I'm very reflective post hospital y'all)
It's been a year of growing and stretching and pushing down all kinds of walls, but there is always room for improvement....So here are some projects I want to work on-
1) learning the uke finally
my pretty little red one is just sitting around getting lonely
2) writing
I have been saying...oh maybe just my ENTIRE LIFE....I'll work on this dream screenplay in my head. It is time. I have to put some stuff down just for the sake of trying EVEN if it is probably terrible and goes nowhere
3) organize
All those trips and dreams I want to chase down? NO time like the present.
4)drink more water
this sounds dumb/ simple, but it's tough for me

and most importantly.....

4) marry this one.

I certainly agree.

Friday Favorites

Happy Independence Day!!!!!!!

I have been MIA this week due to a hospital visit-a massive thank you to everyone who has been checking on me! I'm thankfully feeling much better tonight. Now how about some favorites?

These  recipes are easy to prepare and great for tonight's festivities!

My Girl 1 and 2 are now on netflix :))) break out those tissues! Then bounce back with the Beyonce documentary because it is a bad mood buster.
I recently watched Very Good Girls, which turned out to be a very good coming of age movie!
Also...if you are a Hitchcock fan I highly recommend Take Shelter-closest thing I have seen to the Birds in a long time-full of suspense.

Popcorn ice cream from williamsburg creamery  is a definate favorite. I understand it sounds gross and weird, but it is actually amazing, however be warned, they give huge servings so only get one scoop because it is the equivalent of three scoops.

A trip out to Brighton beach on a Monday was like getting a free vacation.

Speaking of the beach, I've been listening exclusively to the beach boys ALL week.
This song never gets old.

I love falling asleep to thunderstorms two nights in a row.

My biggest favorite of all is we finally have A.C. in the apartment!!

Happy Weekending-hope you have a great 4th xo
